NK Denim Hanging at Klimbos Garderen turns out to be a big success!

"We didn't expect so many participants," says Erik Kroon, owner of the climbing forest. "No fewer than 200 participants in the various categories took part in the preliminary rounds." After the preliminary rounds, which took place 'normally' on the ground, it was time for the final at 17.00 hours. The final took place at a height of 25 metres, on the highest course in Klimbos Garderen.
During the finals, the best jeans hangers of the day were escorted to the highest point and, of course, hoisted in a belt so that they could hang safely. The height provided an extra dimension. It wasn't just hanging on to a pair of jeans anymore, which at a certain point really kills the arm and hand muscles. But the thought of hanging at 25 metres also became an extra handicap for most participants.
But not for Nova Brummelman (13) from Eefde and Owen de Boorder (13) from Zaandam. They became gloriously Dutch champions in the under-16s. With 1 minute and 23 seconds and 1 minute and 27 seconds, they stayed on the jeans the longest. In the category for women aged 16 and over, Michelle Beelen (25) from Barneveld won the Dutch women's competition with 1 minute and 14 seconds, while Daan Schouten (16) from Uddel claimed the men's title with 1 minute and 40 seconds.
"It was a successful first edition," says Kroon, who in this way brings three major events to the climbing forest in Garderen. In the spring, there is Dewclimbing during Ascension, in the autumn there is Halloween Climbing and now there is also the NK Jeans Hanging every summer.
